Nitrous Oxide in its chemical representation is N3O. Its molar mass is 44.013 g/mol, and its density is 1.977 g/L. However, it is more commonly referred to as laughing gas. Laughing gas is used mainly for dental purposes. It is a colorless gas with an almost unnoticeable smell and taste. However, this gas is only non-flammable at room temperature. At higher temperatures, it becomes an oxidizer, meaning it could combust in a reaction.

Going back to the discussion of laughing gas, inhaling nitrous oxide will lead to a sensation that will make you laugh, just as the name suggests. You might feel slightly light-headed, but it numbs your senses. It acts as a sedative to counteract pain. It makes you feel like you are intoxicated. However, it may lead to death if inhaled improperly and other side-effects including vomiting, fatigue, fever, or wheezing. Laughing gas has uses outside of dentistry such as the propellant for whipped cream and as a way to enhance the efficiency of a car's engine. There has been increasing use of a way to treat withdrawal symptoms from alcohol. Also, it is a really common greenhouse gas and contributes significantly to global warming.
